Definition: BMI (body mass index) A measurement of a person’s body fat, determined by dividing a person’s weight in kilograms by their height in meters (m) squared. It is used as an index of obesity.
Also Known As: body mass index
Examples: After losing 18 pounds, Rachel had a BMI of 24, which was within the normal range.
